IND 305 Online

The Language of the Media

The course explores the language of the contemporary Indonesian media. All texts are authentic reports from the Indonesian media, mainly taken from mainstream newspapers and magzines such as Tempo and Kompas, and supplemented with recorded radio reports and interviews. All texts are supplemented with interactive exercises, and homework assignments, that will be corrected and returned by the instructor.Students will interact with other students using the discussion forum

IND 305 is aimed for speakers with at least intermediate proficiency in Indonesian. The objectives of this course are to progress linguistically, as well as to develop an awareness of the contemporary social context; there will be an even balance
between language and content. The course will familiarize students with the language of the media as employed in the contemporary Indonesian press and promoting the development of strong reading and writing skills at both colloquial and formal levels.For more information please consult the course syllabus.

The e-course will enable participating students to advance their proficiency in Indonesian towards a truly advanced level.
